As mentioned elsewhere by adopting “ the Costco-Model” paying industry leading re-numeration makes economic sense with the savings made on rehiring, training etc. It also helps ensure continuity of care, a major reason with client disillusionment.
But most people do not enter our profession for capital gain. a simple thank you is sometimes all that is needed. It is also imperative to empower people, making them believe in not only themselves but you practice vision.
I learned to become a transformational leader. Changing from my previous transactional style of management had an immediate effect in staff retention rates. I would urge you to do likewise and promise immediate results. By surrounding yourself with good people to do what you want done, and showing the self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do, it as a leader you can inspire enthusiasm.
On a daily basis I challenged staff to take greater ownership for their work, and by understanding the strengths and weaknesses of followers, allowed me to align them with tasks that enhance their performance.
