“The goal is to turn data into information, and information into insight.”
Carly Fiorina, former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard Company or HP.
His time studying in San Francisco as part of his MBA highlighted the importance of big data analytics to Dr McCoubrey, both from a business viewpoint and a health perspective.
This harvesting of data traditionally and digitally from inside and outside companies represents a source for ongoing discovery and analysis. What we are seeing is digitization and internet utilisation of such information, including pet health records—that were traditionally too large or complex to understand. Its application within our industry will use specific health data of an animal population (or an individual) and potentially help in the prevention of epidemics, cure disease, cut down costs, etc
The new technologies available will mean more consolidation and analyzation of such digital treasure troves in the identification of trends enabling us to make predictions.
Big Data is the future and we at Janus want to be at the forefront of this revolution within the Veterinary sector.
